Aerial Application of Fine Droplets in Unstable Atmospheres: Field Trial Data

Thirty-one field trials are examined to ascertain the effectiveness of fine droplet (120 m VMD) spraying of young Southern Pine plantations. Lower application rates would reduce costs through decreased flight time but there are questions regarding coverage and the effects on efficacy. Detailed application variable information is logged along with extensive meteorological data. Specifically, the role of atmospheric stability is investigated. The range of stability conditions encountered in these trials is limited. Foliar deposition shows some dependence on humidity.
