Study On Drying Equation For Rice With Microwave Heating

Two major grain species in Taiwan, Japonica and India rice, were dried in household microwave oven with 580W microwave power. Wet rice with various initial moisture content, Mi, was dried in certain drying time, and final moisture content, M, was measured. Two drying equations based on Pages equation were regressed statistically from 464 observations as followings.

India rice: (Mi= 30.57, 33.42, 28.25, 26.04, 22.97, 19.75%w.b., 149 observations.)

Japonica rice : (Mi=34.99, 30.39, 29.51, 28.06, 26.72, 25.53, 23.59, 22.25, 20.46, 18.71%w.b. 315 observations.)
