The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food has developed a nutrient management planing workbook and software package that uses both nitrogen and phosphorous indices. In addition, a pathogen index process has been explored but has not been fully developed. This paper describes the indices used, the effects of the indices, the interrelationships between the indices, the software and workbook available and the usage of the indices by farmers.
