The main objective was to design a venturi aerator and to study its performance characteristics and its oxygenating capacity. The aerator was designed for two functions, circulation and aeration. First, a small propeller model was fabricated. Using similarity law and equal impeller Reynolds number, a full size propeller prototype was designed and fabricated. The velocity of water flow was found to be 0.59 m/s. For oxygenation, venturi principle was used for aeration. The oxygenating experiments were conducted using accepted protocol for various operating parameters. Oxygen dissolved increased with volume flow rate of water, contributed by velocity of water flow and size of nozzle.
