Estimation of Fruit Rupture Stress

The objective of the work reported herein was to develop a method for the determination of the firmness of fruits and vegetables from two parameters measured by nondestructive test methods. According to this procedure the partial correlation coefficient was determined between the rupture stress, and the coefficient of elasticity and furthermore between the rupture stress and the acoustic stiffness coefficient and a weighted estimation of the rupture stress can be determined. Therefore an improved estimation of the rupture stress can be performed from the weighted estimation of two partial correlations.
