In this study we developed a distributed network control scheme for use in facilitating modern greenhouse development and control. A FHC scheme based on 485 field bus technology was applied to the environmental control system of a large-scale multi-span greenhouse. The successful application of this system in a multi-span greenhouse in Shandong Province indicates the potential for developing intelligent control systems in multi-span greenhouses in China.
