Plant production facility with a Mirror Duct that was able to densify sun light and transfer it inside of buildings was constructed to reduce the operational energy for practical use and experiments were conducted to estimate effects of the Mirror Duct as a light source on plant growth. Leaf lettuce (Lactuca sativa L., cv."Greenwave") was used in this project and it was found that the fresh weight of leaf lettuce at harvest in sunlight + fluorescent light was more than 10 % greater than that in fluorescent light only in the light intensity above 9 mol m-2 day-1 and that the light quality did not affect the number of leaves at harvest, and approximate 0.3 leaf enhanced as increasing the light intensity of 10 umol m-2 s-1. No linear relation between the fresh weight and the number of leaves at harvest was observed and the simple equation that describes the relation between fresh weight and number of leaves were derived.
