Development of an Electronic Weigh Bucket

A modified version of the electronic weigh bucket was developed and tested during the 2002 tomato harvesting season. The improved weigh bucket overcame four major concerns associated with the previous design weight, size, capacity, and ability to harvest continuously when the weigh bucket was not in use. The calibration tests indicated that the unit worked well. However, a shift in the slope between different trials was observed which was attributed to aliasing problems. Moreover, the results of this years study indicated that further simplification of the device is possible while maintaining accuracy.
