At what size does a dairy reach ultimate efficiency or does efficiency continue to grow with size. A review of five key factors is utilized to develop optimum size constraints. These factors include parlor size, labor, milk shipping, waste disposal, and overall herd management. When all of these factors are considered 1,500 head is a recurring size of efficiency which develops.
