Food Processing Organic Waste Treatment by ElectrolysisPublished by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, St. Joseph, Michigan www.asabe.org Citation: Paper number 026134, 2002 ASAE Annual Meeting . (doi: 10.13031/2013.10846) @2002Authors: Kazuo Morita, Fumihiko Tanaka, Miyako Nishida, Shoko Shinto Keywords: Electrolysis, COD, Distilled slurry waste, Organic waste treatment Distilled slurry waste of sweet potato "shochu" which contained high concentration of organic matters was reduced a compound into its elements by electrolysis with laboratory and practical scales. A system of electrolysis treatment with a pair of electrodes was indicated and the electrical and chemical reaction between the electrodes was also shown. The performance of the electrolysis treatment was evaluated using COD removal rate. The electrolysis treatment of organic waste was perfectly purified within a short time. The electrolysis treatment is considered to be useful method for organic waste purification. (Download PDF) (Export to EndNotes)
