Many swine operations have investigated and invested in wetlands as treatment technologies. Less work has been done utilizing wetlands for treatment of runoff from open lot feeding operations. A demonstration project was initiated to construct and evaluate the application of wetlands for small confined livestock facilities. This paper discusses the design and application of wetlands for two small bovine operations. The initial planning, design, construction, installation costs, advantages, and drawbacks are discussed.
