The successful use of precision farming technology for automated data acquisition, site specific farming, fleet management and field robots makes it necessary to have a detailed knowledge on the quality of all utilized equipment. To get knowledge on this quality is the aim of the presented investigation. Key technologies such as the positioning system or the standardized bus communication are the main subjects. The delays and errors of these systems and their variance allow to point out limiting factors and formulate general design rules for future precision farming developments.
