Changes of the electrical conductivity during the desalinization process of reclaimed tidal lands were studied and the water requirements for desalinization were estimated. Desalinization experiments were carried out by two water management practices, namely, the leaching method and the rinsing method using the soil samples collected in 5 units of tidal land reclamation projects in Korea. The leaching method showed the advantage of saving water requirements for desalinization compared to rinsing method. But it takes relatively long time to achieve desalinization and desalinization would be almost impossible for impermeable soils by the method. On the other hand, the rinsing method required less time for desalinization either permeable or impermeable soil, but the desalinization of subsoil would be difficult by the method.
