The calibration of chemical sprayers is of great topicality for the different sectors of agronomy. In particular, from the mechanical point of view the objective of calibration is to find a right balance between machines and plants, i.e. attaining a good calibration of the machine through the geometric study of the target plant to avoid the well known-problems of environment pollution and safeguard the health of the operators.

In this perspective the Section of Mechanics of DiSTAfa of Reggio Calabria carried out calibration tests on a sprayer in a typical vineyard located on the Thyrrenian coast of the province of Reggio Calabria. A colorimetric technique was used to analyze leaf deposits, whereas distribution profiles were analyzed by a HOLDER-type absorbing wall.
