Round Modules: Update on Handling Logistics and Cover Damage

Abstract.

Round modules are becoming a more common method of seed cotton storage and transport. Increasing use of round modules has resulted in more diverse methods of field staging, transport, and handling at the gin . A single board computer-based system was developed and mounted on module trucks or handlers to record module tag numbers, equipment location, and images of the modules. Throughput rates of different handling systems were calculated, and costs per module were estimated. Module images were analyzed to determine the frequency and sources of cover damage. Preliminary results of 2019 testing of the system are discussed.
