IT and the Internet in the Japanese Rural Areas

IT & the Internet are widely used in Japanese rural areas. In this paper we introduce the current issues of those in Japan. Also, some most advanced community information systems are shown; such as full households coverage with the computer communication system, remote medical data transaction system, and so on. Japan, the background of the typing is not common. Especially for the older generations. To conquer this problem, many information systems in the rural area provide the fax data transaction. And the governmental policy, which support IT training, had also launched. Recently, cellular phones become very popular in Japan. And the current phones can access to the Internet and handle e-mails.
