Agricultural and biological engineering has an identity crisis. Whenever I attend conferences (other than ASABE meetings) or meet with academic or industry people who are not agricultural and biological engineers, they ask, “Where are you from?” I answer, “The University of Arizona.” They respond, “Which department are you in?” To which I reply, “The Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering.”
