ABSTRACT CLOGGING of drains with sediment is an important problem in the design and maintenance of subsur-face drainage systems. Soil stability and density, represented by plasticity index and hydraulic conductivi-ty can be used to estimate the internal water flow gra-dient at which hydraulic failure of the soil structure oc-curs.
